Just another quick little recipe that I have featured on Instagram before but haven’t managed to post here.
In the past, if there was ever a choice of cake going around, my preference was always cheesecake. Not sure why, but it just hit the spot. The more I learn about good fats, blood sugar spikes with too much sugar and carbs and the rest of the havoc caused by wheat products (currently reading Wheat Belly by William Davis MD and having mind blown,) I am coming to understand more why my body would choose this high fat treat option. It knows best!
I’ve noticed something. If I eat three small pieces of this recipe or any of the good fat and protein combos like my white chocolate fudge or peanut butter balls, for breakfast, I am totally not hungry again until well after 12 noon.
That’s super awesome because in the past when I had fruit or oats for example, I would be hungry again an hour later. Such a pain when you have things to do.
So I may have hit on something I like even better than raw cacao chocolate – if that’s even possible? I wondered what would happen if I just left out the cacao powder and coconut oil when I was making my chocolate tweets (‘cos the coconut oil and cacao can be kind of overpowering) and ramped up the butter and nut butter content.
The articles published recently about the questionable effective relationship between exercise and weight loss mirror my experiences.
It’s funny because I have worked things out for myself for a long time now regarding weight loss based on how it feels for my body, and it has led me to the place I am now – happy, healthy the weight I want to be without much effort at all.
It helped me wade through the information overwhelm which is mostly conflicting and arrive at my truth. First it was about sugar which is now mainstream, then it was grains thanks to the Paleo crew who made that more well known and here is just another thing that my body taught me first.
So how was your protein intake from last week’s blog? Are you getting enough or too much maybe? As promised though, here is my shake recipe that I use to boost my protein if it’s looking a bit on the low side…
So I was thinking about my protein intake because it’s important for all kinds of things like your skin, connective tissue, muscle building or maintenance, makes hormones and enzymes and as a ‘fish only eating’ vegetarian, I wondered… “if I don’t eat fish every day, would I still be eating enough?”
I found this quote on the wall of the Magic Apple Café, which is a fantastic little eatery in Burleigh Queensland serving amazing salads, wholefoods and kick ass healthy desserts. Salads with all kinds of goodness and things going on that I would look in envy and wish I would make them at home. See picture! Magic indeed.
