This recipe was another accident as I am still on my quest to make a brownie type of treat without a truckload of dates in it. Everything still turns out yum, if not an interestingly different texture to what I envisaged. However once again it’s good enough to add to the recipe list and something I would make again.
More people have asked me about savoury snack ideas as I do make a lot of sweet stuff – my personal preference. I seem to enjoy the sweeter stuff more in terms of feeling satisfied more quickly, I guess because my version of sweet is less sweet than commercial products and higher in good fats, which is maybe why it hits the spot for me better. Who knows?
All I do know is what my body likes and I can tell when I may have had too much sweet, it clearly gives the signal – time for some savoury/salty stuff now. So it’s good to have some options up your sleeve.
This is dedicated to my friend who is having the time of her life as tour leader on a Top Deck bus tripping around Europe. Her story is proof that with a little hard work and lots of perseverance, a really huge dream can come true!
When she gets back, I will be sure to cook her a batch in celebration! Go Travel Girl!
One of my big revelations when I finally worked out how to lose weight was that you don’t have to completely give up the taste of the stuff you like to eat, while you are on your way. You just need to tweak it, so it goes from being junk food, which has no nutritional value, has toxins, and chemicals that your body can’t recognise, to something so amazingly good for you, tastes fantastic and has an automatic off switch, making binge eating or over eating a thing of the past. Meaning you can still eat it every day and still lose weight. Genius huh?
So one of the foods that most people absolutely love is chocolate.
So last week I mentioned one other food I was researching and experimenting with along with the psyllium husk disaster zone and that is gelatin.
So you mean that stuff that makes jelly and is made from horses hooves, cows and pigs carcass and everything else scraped off the killing room floor? Well…yes sort of and yes all animal. So if you are vegetarian or vegan, you might want to stop reading right now however as I have explained before, my approach to the food I eat is what feels good to me in terms of physical effects – energy levels, no pain, bloating, tiredness, nothing that is addictive to me, preferring anything that makes me feel refreshed, nourished, alive and sometimes that extends to animals and animal products like fish, eggs, occasional dairy and now gelatin.
So while chocolate is my favourite sweet treat or food or whatever you want to call it, (the fudgy type is what I love rather than cake) I can’t just make only chocolate dessert recipes forever…or can I, hmmm??? Sometimes though I feel the need to break out, discover a new flavour and try to devise a recipe that makes the creation just as amazing as chocolate is to me. Continue reading
