So I’m back from Cherry Blossom gazing in Japan and wow(!) what an amazing place that is for a number of different reasons. Will elaborate more in a coming post but for now, I just wanted to show you my latest breakfast-on-the-run creation.
With both more fruit and coffee coming back into my life, start the day with a Ka –BANGO!
Now that coffee has crept back into my life a little, it was inevitable that it would appear in some recipes. Added here, it gives a brilliant taste to the gummie lolly, which ends up all creamy, sweet and bursting with flavour.

After my initial few weeks of swearing off it for a while and reaping the benefits of feeling calm, hydrated and clear in the head, I left it with a possible option to continue having my beloved black and chai tea albeit with some restrictions because caffeine is one of my psycho addictive foods and I know this.
As much as I wish this wasn’t the case, it so is and the result of the last three months has proven it to me yet again. Not that I needed proof but it’s more like that it’s hard to shake or stop something that you love and so you try and try every different possible way to enable it to stay. Or I’m a slow learner!
What amazes me about my whole health and weight loss journey is that while I have come along way from the overweight days and have learned so much, the universe never ceases to amaze me further with new discoveries all the time.
Usually these revelations don’t come out of the blue but they build up over time and if I don’t get the message in the early stages where the discomfort is minor, it gets to a major discomfort stage to get my attention. Think pain, hardship, embarrassment, whatever – it just gets worse until you do something about it.
I was reading an article recently (link down below if you are interested), which spoke about eating disorders and the psychological aspect of binging in terms of the emotional reasons people pick up that block of chocolate and eat the whole thing.
In all the examples they gave of the type of food people were pigging out on, it was junk food. McDonalds, KFC, commercial chocolate, cakes, biscuits, and ice cream were some examples. Never once do you hear the story… and she was so upset she ate five bowls of salad and a whole watermelon.
I read others articles, blog posts, facebook and instagram posts on weight loss and health because obviously it interests me yet it alarms me to read that people are still doing more of the same rubbish that I was up to 20 years ago trying to lose weight.
One particularly horrifying tale was a water detox for 20 days! Really?
The writer was adamant that fasting was beneficial and I’m sure I’ve also read something along those lines too however this type of extreme fast should be highly controlled – think resting and taking naps, definitely not trying to live your normal life at the same time or exercising as it’s pretty dangerous – think passing out when you are trying to drive to work, and organs shutting down from lack of nutrients – and the worst part was that she wasn’t doing it this for health benefits, it was for weight loss.
No way people!
This got me thinking about the whole yo-yo thing and why it seems like we go on a cycle of ‘on the wagon’ and ‘off the wagon’ and having to ‘start again on Monday’ over and over again.
I was reading an article on another blog, something about lasers stopping you eating, a very strange article – anyway it touched on overeating and encouraging people to seek help for something called a Binge Eating Disorder. Now I know there are some people caught up in serious issues with food and eating and sometimes it relates to emotional eating, boredom, self esteem issues and a whole host of other stuff of which I know nothing about, so I am not even going to attempt to write about something of which I have no knowledge.
However in my past experience with weight loss and food, I was an over eater; from having two or three pieces of toast rather than one, always seconds of food and dessert even if I was full, right through to sneaking the second and third donut and eating the whole packet of biscuits, feeling over full and sick and promising myself that I would be ‘good’ starting Monday.
