At the start of my Ray Peat style diet journey, everything I read at the time said to balance your macros at every meal.
So that’s all three macros – protein, fats and carbohydrates.
One reason was blood sugar balance. The other main reason, was to make sure you were getting all your macros in for the day in the correct proportions to be beneficial.
White fish is one of the recommended easily digestible proteins in the Ray Peat style diet, so this Sweet Paprika Cod Recipe will make cooking it super easy for you.
I keep hearing this a lot in the Ray Peat groups and forums – but what can I eat? So this year, I’m going to find, share and create more food suggestions and recipes to make life easier for myself and everyone else.
I’m not a fan of long-winded, elaborate recipes, I prefer quick and simple, but you can still pick a herb or a spice that can change the dish completely and give it a little pizzazz.
So I was perusing instagram as I like to read other people’s stories about how they live healthy lives or tackle weight loss and there was one profile that caught my eye for all the wrong reasons. Let’s call her Weight Watchers Wendy.
Dangerous Grains by James Braly M.D. & Ron Hoggan, M.A. is an eye opening book and a must read for those interested in their health.
So over a year in my new residence and I have only recently sought out my nearest library. I love libraries for their air-conditioned quiet space, loads of magazines to read and newspapers and yes I am a reading nerd but since Big Bang Theory, nerds are cool, so all is well.
My reading material is always factual stuff, or is that non-fiction? What’s the difference? Why do we need two words that are the same thing? It’s like calling milk – non orange juice. It’s weird.
Anyway, I read mostly health books of course and a little self-help stuff (firm believer in taking responsibility for your own life) and had a list of a few titles that I wanted to find there. All were out with one in particular that I wanted being taken only a few hours earlier – doh! In any case I kept searching and found this amazing book called Dangerous Grains.
If you want to be successful at health and weight loss, the best diet for weight loss is one you can keep up long term.
I was having a chat with some Instagram peeps on their weight loss journey. Some are going it alone, others are on weight watchers, some on slimming world, others lite ‘n easy. Some have facebook support groups and some are helping each other out, which is great. Then you get bombarded with crazy wraps, herbalife, shakeology and lots of other stuff, but you just ignore those.
People post the food they are eating and the old food police in me wants to grab them and shake them!!!! I have to remind myself that they are on their own path and if they need my help they will come and ask for it.
Cooking and I have a love/hate relationship. I love it when I am in the mood and making something I love to eat. I hate it when I’m hungry and can’t be bothered. So this means my cooking style is easy, easy, easy. Too many ingredients and it’s out, too many steps and it’s out and to be considered Sim Birdy approved it needs to meet the following criteria:-
1. Super easy
2. Pro Metabolic ingredients
3. Super yum
4. Healthy to the max
As my eating style has changed somewhat since I started this journey, I have divided my recipes so that my newer Ray Peat Inspired followers can easily find what they need to keep meals lower fat and on a health and weight loss track.
So I have moved my keto recipes to a different page. Here all the Ray Peat inspired recipes will be kept in two categories – one lower in fat and the other higher in fat as follows:
One – Ray Peat Inspired – lower fat
Two – Ray Peat Inspired – higher fat
(Also right at the end of the page, I have now put an alphabetical list of all recipes on this website, so we can all find them more easily. Happy cooking!)
For more recipes and meal/snack suggestions, find them in my books The Zen Beach Diet and Sweet Treats, only Au$9.95 (US$6.50 & GBP 5.15) available for immediate download.
