At the start of my Ray Peat style diet journey, everything I read at the time said to balance your macros at every meal.
So that’s all three macros – protein, fats and carbohydrates.
One reason was blood sugar balance. The other main reason, was to make sure you were getting all your macros in for the day in the correct proportions to be beneficial.
After months of hard work and my kitchen/household turned upside down, I am excited to reveal my latest book – The Zen Beach Diet and show you how to lose weight and gain your health at the same time.
The Best Diet
After Keto ruined my health, I went searching for something else that would enhance my health as well as give me the weight loss results I desired. The fast metabolism, thyroid supporting approach by Dr Ray Peat was the one.
What’s in the book?
It’s based on my experiences with the Dr Ray Peat style of eating and solves the many questions about what to eat, how much to eat, and exactly how to lose weight with this diet. You’ll learn how to formulate a meal, exact macros, calories and how to balance your starch and fat intake.
So I’m back from the wilds of Iceland and Scotland and did a lot of holiday eating and carbohydrate loading accidentally!
Seriously, if you’ve ever thought you may like to visit Iceland one day, please do yourself a favour and do it.
It is totally like another planet with variations in landscape that are mind-blowing. You can drive 5km and see green rolling hills with waterfalls, trees and mountains, then jet black bare volcanic dirt as far as the eye can see. Then the jet black dirt has rocks on it, then the rocks have tufts of grass, then it’s these round rocks with fluorescent green thick moss all over them. But the strange part is – it’s one or the other – there is never a mixture. Really bizarre. And ice lagoons, and the black beach with chunks of ice on it and of course the aurora – just wow!
Anyway, to see some stunning photographic videos and amazing drone footage check out my hubby’s Iceland Youtube series here and images on cards to wall prints and more availablehere.
A new friend in my life was quizzing me about what I eat, and it made me think how it important it was not to stress about eating.
We were exchanging recipes and explaining briefly the why, what and hows of our respective eating habits and at one point I said, “I do eat cheese because I like it and it suits my weight loss goals but I am aware of the gumming up effect it sometimes has on me if I eat it too much. As well as the fact that all dairy food is supposed to cause inflammation in your body, much like grains do. But I don’t stress about eating and have it anyway.”
I had told dear friend Maryanne about the progress of my book and she listened intently like the loyal and beautiful friend that she is. She has heard about this book and the way I eat for about two years now, so perhaps it is sounding more like blah, blah, blah to her now. I can’t help it though as everyone is trying to figure out how to lose weight fast, without a thought about how it may affect their health.
Anyway, so we moved on to her news. She proceeded to tell me about a naturopath she saw who told her about these weight loss drops to suppress your hunger and the diet you eat of only 500 calories.
What the?
I stopped in my tracks and my jaw dropped open. Involuntarily I started shaking my head and blurted out, “Nooooooo!”
