So I went to a new hairdresser last week, my last one is great but is a 40 min drive away and in Brisbane traffic, it ends up being an hour and a half round trip! The new one is 5 mins away, so it was worth a shot.
However I’m always a bit apprehensive trying a new one as you get to know your hairdressers, they become like friends – so it’s always… Will you like them? Will they like you? Do they do a good job? Do you like the salon and the rest of the crew? Does it all smell like chemicals in there? Do they leave you alone or talk too much? Does it cost 4 times more than you thought it would?
Since I’ve discovered that heating nut flours like almond flour etc actually increases the oxidisation of PUFAs (poly unsaturated fatty acids) in them and kind of makes them toxic (eek!), you can understand why I’m not so keen to continue making up recipes with these nutty flours in it.
What is a PUFA? – Why is it a problem? – How does it relate to my skin and aging?
Ok, PUFAs are Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids and despite many a traditional dietitian still espousing that it’s the healthier oil – think nut oil, seed oil, grain oil – like sunflower, canola, rice bran – others like Biologist Dr Ray Peat say that due to its unstable nature – ie: easily breaks down in heat and light – it actually may be toxic and inflammatory and cause a whole host of issues like this:-
It’s been an eye opening last 6 months for me on the healthy food front!
I’ve discovered a whole different angle of nutrition based on nourishing, healing and nurturing your body. It supports healthy hormones, regulates your blood sugar, encourages repair and rejuvenation and is basically everything you need for a super healthy body, fast metabolism and easy weight loss/maintenance.
Well turns out your body temperature and heart rate are like a little window into your metabolic system and gives a good indication if it’s cranking properly or spluttering to a halt. Health professionals are using these measures along with blood work and checking a list of symptoms, to give a true picture of what’s working, what’s not and if your hormones and thyroid may be out of whack.
